Organizational Mission:
The Center for Excellence in the Arts enhances the learning experience in Colorado Mountain College communities by use of the arts as learning tools to enrich and strengthen mastery in all fields of knowledge. CEA, established in 1996, was founded as one of four specialized CMC programs to be funded by CMC Foundation and designed to serve all Colorado Mountain College communities. Today the CEA is funded by the college and works closely with the Foundation to produce the Jim Calaway Honor Series. CEA's primary programs includes a regular series of visual art exhibits in the CMC Gallery located in downtown Glenwood Springs, production of musical performances through the Jim Calaway Honors Series, educational outreach to CMC community schools, a model for similar series at all CMC communities; and support of the Tabor Opera House restoration project as a member of the Tabor Opera House Coalition. CEA's Artists in Residence provide various levels of support for CEA and CMC programs.
